The cabinet is due to send a summary to the Home Office by Monday or Wednesday, Rashid said.
According to the Minister of Internal Affairs, five members of the Sharif family are hiding in the case.
According to him, 14 defendants, along with Sharif, have already been added to the ETUC.
ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad clarified on Saturday that the name of PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif has not been added to the no-fly list.
In a video message posted on his social media accounts, the minister said the resume sent by the Interior Ministry to include the former Punjab Chief Minister’s name on the Exit Checklist (ECL) has not yet been received.
“The résumé can be received by Monday or Wednesday,” he said, adding that the names of the 14 defendants, along with the PML-N leader, have already been entered into ECL.
“Five members of Sharif’s family are hiding in this case, and he (Shahbaz Sharif) is the guarantor of Nawaz Sharif,” the minister said.
Rashid said the opposition leader in the National Assembly did not fly directly to London, but wanted to travel to Qatar, where he was to undergo a 15-day quarantine before flying to the UK.
He said that so far the government has not received any medical reports from the former chief minister of Punjab. The Minister of the Interior said that after receiving a resume from the Cabinet, the Ministry of Justice and the Minister of the Interior will jointly decide whether Sharif’s name can be entered on the ECL.
“So you will have to wait for the report, after which the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Internal Affairs will make a decision. [on the matter]”The decision will be made in accordance with the law, the Constitution and Article 25,” he added.
Cabinet of Ministers approved the addition of Shehbaz Sharif to ECL
According to an earlier Geo News report, the cabinet approved the addition of Sharif’s name to ECL on the recommendation of the NAB, sources confirmed.
Interior Ministry sources said approval for the inclusion of Sharif’s name on the no-fly list was given in a summary. Once approved, the resume was sent to the Ministry of the Interior, which will act accordingly.
Legal notice of this decision will be issued at a later date.
A subcommittee of the federal cabinet of ministers recommended including Shahbaz Sharif in the ETUC.
It should be noted that on May 7, the BAK released Sharif on bail in a case involving assets outside funds.
Later, the court also allowed him to travel abroad for eight weeks for health reasons.
However, last week, Sharif was unloaded by immigration authorities at Allama Iqbal Airport in Lahore from a flight bound for Doha, as his name was on the Provincial Identity List (PNIL).
The PML-N president was told that he could not leave the country until the system was updated.
The federal government also announced a petition against being granted permission to travel abroad.
Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said Sharif’s guarantee could not be accepted as he had previously given assurances about the return of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, but nothing happened.
