New Delhi [India]May 15 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high-level meeting on Saturday, COVID-19 and the vaccination situation and said that localized containment Strategies are a necessity of the hour, especially in states where county positive test rates (TPRs) are high.
The Prime Minister ordered to scale up testing through the use of both RT-PCR and rapid antigen tests, especially in regions with high TPR.
“PM Modi further said that States should be encouraged to report their numbers in a transparent manner, without any pressure from large numbers that negatively affects their efforts. The prime minister also asked for more rural health resources to focus on door-to-door verification and surveillance, ”the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said in a statement.
“We discussed a number of issues at today’s review meeting on COVID-19including scaling testing in high TPR areas, preparation localized containment strategies to expand rural health opportunities and accelerate vaccination, ” PM Modi tweeted after the meeting.
PM Modi stressed the need for empowerment ASHA and Anganwadi workers with all the necessary tools. He also asked that the manual be available in understandable language, along with illustrations for home isolation and treatment in rural areas.
Referring to the issue of oxygen supply in rural areas, he ordered the development of a distribution plan to ensure oxygen supply in rural areas, including through the provision of oxygen concentrators.
The Prime Minister added that medical professionals should be provided with the necessary training to operate such equipment, as well as ensure the smooth operation of such medical devices.
PM Modi saturday chaired COVID-19 situation and ongoing vaccination campaign. Earlier on Wednesday, the prime minister also held a meeting that addressed the availability and supply of oxygen and medicines in the wake of the surge COVID-19 cases in the country.
