Hero MotoCorp will reopen the plant in one shift from 17 May
Largest manufacturer of two-wheelers in India by volume, Hero of MotoCorp is preparing for a gradual reopening by launching one-shift production at its three manufacturing plants, Gurugram and Dharuhera in Haryana and Hardwar in Uttarakhand, from 17 May 2021. In addition to manufacturing for the domestic market in India, these factories will also focus on serving global business markets around the world. According to a press statement from Hero MotoCorp, the company continues to monitor the situation closely and the rest of the manufacturing facilities and other facilities will also gradually reopen.

Thanks to a concerted vaccination campaign across the organization, more than 90 percent of Hero MotoCorp employees over the age of 45 have already been vaccinated, according to the company. All factories and offices have strict safety and hygiene protocols in place in preparation for the phased reopening. Hero MotoCorp temporarily suspended the plant in a staggered manner for four days from April 22 to May 2 and then extended it until May 16. All corporate offices of the company are already working from home.

In April 2021, Hero MotoCorp recorded a 35.47% drop in sales from the previous month, selling 3.72,285 units, up from 5.76,957 units sold in March 2021. The shutdown of Hero MotoCorp’s factories was reflected in monthly sales in April 2021, with Bajaj overtaking Hero in total motorcycle sales. With the ongoing second wave of the pandemic raging across the country, sales in May and June are expected to be lower than expected, with a recovery expected only by the third quarter of 2021-22.
