WHAT did the prime minister say in his speech tonight?
The Prime Minister announced that millions of Britons will receive their second shots earlier in the light of the Indian coronavirus strain that has hit some areas.
Mr. Johnson was joined on the rostrum by Chief Physician Professor Chris Whitty.
The prime minister said the gap between the first and second injections would be reduced to eight weeks, but insisted that his plan of action was still being carried out.
He said tonight: “We will expedite the remaining second doses, especially for the clinically vulnerable, across the country, up to eight weeks after the first date.
“And if you are part of this group, the NHS will contact you. We will also prioritize first jabs for everyone who is eligible but has not yet played. ”
Mr Johnson has assured people in England that Monday’s unlocking will happen as planned, which means holidays and indoor mixing are finally allowed again.
